Yes, yet another eligible bachelor of Kollywood is taken! The handsome hero Karthi who has carved a niche in the industry with his performances is all set to tie the knot. The lucky girl is Ranjani a MA Literature gold medalist who is an alumnus of Stella Maris College in Chennai. She is the daughter of Erode Chinnasamy and Jothi Meenakshi. News is that the couple will get married on the 3rd July this year. The marriage has been arranged by the elders of the family. Karthi's brother Suriya is also a popular star and is married to his fellow actress and lover Jyothika. Looks like Karthi is all set to break a million hearts on the 3rd of July. This stalwart of Tamil cinema has many passions and other than his family, Tamil literature is at the top of the list. “I just happened to start reading Kambar Ramayanam by chance when I was invited as a guest speaker in 2007 for Madurai Kambar Kazhagam. I prepared a short speech and it sparked from there,” reminisces Palanisamy Rakkia Gounder, better known to the world as actor Sivakumar. When asked about the proudest and happiest moment in recent times, he says, “It was in 2008, in the month of May. I was invited for a talk in Chennai for about an audience of 50 people on Kambar Ramayanam. It was taped and recorded with very poor audio quality. I received a call the next day from a gentleman in Vancouver. He introduced himself as a Canadian national and it was lunch hour for them when he played my recording (the one recorded the previous day) and said about a thousand odd people had thronged to listen to it. It was a proud moment not for Sivakumar but for the glory of Kambar Rama...

“We never expected that Suriya could make it this big in films. He was so timid when he was young and his fiery performance on screen is a pleasant surprise to all of us”, says Sivakumar, the proud father. The veteran actor, going down the memory lane, says, “In his college days, Suriya was a calm boy who would not even talk freely to his friends. He was as shy as I was before I entered the film industry”. On his younger son Karthi, Sivakumar says, “He is a bold guy who always wanted to make a career out of films. Even when I sent him abroad for studies, he made it clear to me that his passion was movies. And he is proving it now”. Saying that never had he advised so much to his sons, the actor adds: “All that I asked them was not to rejoice so much during victory and not to feel bad during failures. And to respect everyone with equal importance”.

Suriya is truly excited about his upcoming film 7Aum Arivu in which he plays the role of a trapeze artiste cum animal trainer. The unit is currently shooting at Great Bombay Circus in Coimbatore. Suriya will be performing all the circus acts himself without using a double in any of the sequences. The actor is practising hard to get his body language right. He can now walk the trapeze, blow fire out of his mouth and juggle with six balls. “I stayed with a circus. Do you know there are only about seven or eight companies remaining in the country? It’s frightening how popular entertainment like television has ousted its traditional counterparts. I loved learning circus tricks, specially jugglery. I don’t want people to think it is special effects,” Suriya said.
