 We have confirmed sometime ago that 7aam Arivu will hit the marquee this Diwali. The latest on this is that the film will be released in Telugu as well under the title 7th Sense. Suriya enjoys a huge fan following not just in Tamil Nadu but also in Tollywood and Bollywood. This star’s immense popularity has made the filmmakers to consider releasing in Telugu and the work in this regard is now in progress. The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Sun Pictures may step in and take over 7aam Arivu and the talks are on for this. The other film that Sun Pictures is eyeing to buy is Nanban. An official announcement may be made anytime soon, it is expected.

The always-crowded Ranganathan Street at T Nagar became more crowded recently, when Suriya and director A R Murugadoss were there to shoot a song for their forthcoming venture ‘7am Arivu’. “Since filming a song on Ranganathan Street is no easy task, we rehearshed the sequence many a time at AVM Studios for three days. Thanks to all, we managed to achieve what we conceived, on the busy street,” says Murugadoss. It is said that the entire shot was completed in just 10 minutes and the unit immediately left the spot, as crowd started to swell to have a glimpse of Suriya. “Special permission was obtained earlier,” sources say. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin on Red Giant Movies banner, ‘7am Arivu’, being made on a high budget, has Shruthi Haasan opposite Suriya. Music is by Harris Jayaraj. “All is well so far. The shoot is expected to get over soon,” add sources.

The Nadigar Sangam President Sarath Kumar said that Suriya has been confirmed as the Icon Star of the Kollywood cricket team that is to take part in the Celebrity Cricket League T20. He added that Vijay and Vikram have also been approached to be the Icon Stars but both have not confirmed their participation till now. Other stars who have been selected to play for Kollywood include Karthi, Abbas, Madhavan, Jayam Ravi, Arya, Shaam. The matches between the four film industries will be held in the last week of January 2011 in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Acclaimed cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran is a happy man these days. The reason for his happiness is his work in the Shahrukh starrer ‘My name is Khan’ has been selected for the main awards competition at the coveted ‘Plus Camerimage’ International film festival for the art of cinematography. The festival, a global event, will be held in Bydgozscs, Poland between November 27 and December 4, 2010. Ravi K. Chandran is known for his pristine and vibrant cinematography in the Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi film industries. He has worked with the who’s who of the Indian movie world including Mani Ratnam, Rakesh Roshan, Faran Akhthar, Priyadarshan and Shankar. His work in movies like Viraasat, Black, Dil Chahta Hai, Boys and Kannathil Muthamittal was critically applauded. He is currently wielding the lens for AR Mugadoss’ next movie 7aam Arivu starring Surya. His Bollywood project, Guzaarish, directed by Sanjay Leela Bansali, is up for release soon.

The US theatrical rights of Ratha Charithram have been acquired by the GK Media LLC. The film, which deals with gang war, is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It has Suriya, Vivek Oberoi and Priyamani in lead roles. The first part of Raktha Charithra (Telugu and Hindi) turned out to be hit and with Suriya dominating in part 2, it has created a lot of expectations among the Tamil audiences. Speaking about Suriya, RGV said, “Suriya has donned the role of Suri, who takes up arms for settling scores with his enemies. I have great regard for Suriya. Working with him has been a delightful experience. He has the intensity of a volcano. He is capable of doing any kind of role.” The film will be released worldwide on November 26th, 2010.

This stalwart of Tamil cinema has many passions and other than his family, Tamil literature is at the top of the list. “I just happened to start reading Kambar Ramayanam by chance when I was invited as a guest speaker in 2007 for Madurai Kambar Kazhagam. I prepared a short speech and it sparked from there,” reminisces Palanisamy Rakkia Gounder, better known to the world as actor Sivakumar. When asked about the proudest and happiest moment in recent times, he says, “It was in 2008, in the month of May. I was invited for a talk in Chennai for about an audience of 50 people on Kambar Ramayanam. It was taped and recorded with very poor audio quality. I received a call the next day from a gentleman in Vancouver. He introduced himself as a Canadian national and it was lunch hour for them when he played my recording (the one recorded the previous day) and said about a thousand odd people had thronged to listen to it. The Telugu version of Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra has received a huge response from the viewers as all the theaters in Andhra Pradesh were packed during the screening of the movie. Telugu audiences are already aware of the real life incidents which is the base of the story, so this might have increased their interest in the movie. The much anticipated movie of recent times in Hindi Raktha Charitra has been made in two parts. The movie is a real life incident and is being shot in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Ram Gopal Verma has confirmed the release dates of the two installments of the movie. The first part of the movie will be released on October 22, 2010. Suriya is truly excited about his upcoming film 7Aum Arivu in which he plays the role of a trapeze artiste cum animal trainer. The unit is currently shooting at Great Bombay Circus in Coimbatore. Suriya will be performing all the circus acts himself without using a double in any of the sequences. The actor is practising hard to get his body language right. He can now walk the trapeze, blow fire out of his mouth and juggle with six balls. “I stayed with a circus. Do you know there are only about seven or eight companies remaining in the country? It’s frightening how popular entertainment like television has ousted its traditional counterparts. I loved learning circus tricks, specially jugglery. I don’t want people to think it is special effects,” Suriya said.
