Its official! Suriya’s KV Anand directed Maatran produced by AGS Entertainment’s has sold the Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka theatrical rights to Eros International Media Ltd (Eros Entertainment). Eros has been assigned the Tamil theatrical rights for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka and the Tamil audio rights of the movie. A press statement has been issued by Eros.Commenting on the acquisition, Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd said, “With Maatraan, Eros continues to explore and establish its presence in the regional film markets. Harris Jayaraj, the happening music composer is back with his Ayan combo Suriya and K.V. Anand and their upcoming venture is titled as Maatraan. The Oru kal Oru Kannadi music composer speaking about Suriya and Kajal starrer Maatraan said, "Maatraan album is almost done with its work, the entire album will be ready within a month of time and the makers are planning to release the audio soon." Further he added, "We finished 3 songs in 7 days; Composition for album of Maatraan was done in 6 countries. KV Anand and I traveled on a cruise and the ship has touched many countries in its journey, mostly along the Mediterranean Sea and the idea was entirely Anand's. Surya has completed the shooting of his AR Murgadoss directed 7aam Arivu. Surya will soon start the work on his next movie Maatraan directed by K.V Ananad. The duo has earlier given one of Kollywood’s Biggest Box office hits in it history through Ayan. Maatraan is being produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram and Harris Jayaraj is scoring music for the fim. Maatraan Shooting is expected to start by 1st week of June. Also KV Anand is searching for the lead lady in the movie and hasn’t finalized any one yet. As per sources Tamanna, Tapasee, Kajal Agarwal and Deepika Padukone are in the race to pair with Surya. But it seems like Kajal Agarwal will pair up with Surya in Maatraan even though it is not officially confirmed yet. An official announcement about the movie cast and crew is expected soon.

Dr. Ravindra Kumeran, founder trustee of Obesity Foundation of India organized the second Obesity Walkathon ‘Shaping India’ on February 26, 2011 at 6:30 am. The guest of honor for this event was MK Kanimozhi, MP., and the chief guest was Suriya.
