7aum Arivu’s audio launch is to happen on September 22nd at the Chennai Trade Centre and the preparations are on at full swing. This will be a very grand affair and out-of-the-box thinking by the 7aum Arivu team which is going to set this audio launch apart from the rest.

The show will be hosted by Jai and Anjali. To begin with, the trailer of the film will be premiered at the function. Lakshmi Rai, Abhinaya, Anjali, Rukmini and others are performing at this audio launch function and the dances are cherogorahed by Shobi.

Bollywood star Isha Sharwani and several artistes of international repute will also be performing onstage. Singer Karthik will also enthrall the audiences with his spellbinding voice.

Suriya turns 36 today! The star was born on July 23, 1975 in Chennai to actor Siva Kumar and Lakshmi. Suriya entered the film industry with Nerukku Ner in which he shared the screen space with Vijay in 1997. After a few years, he went on to play the second hero in Friends, once again with Vijay taking up the lead role.

Surya has completed the shooting of his AR Murgadoss directed 7aam Arivu. Surya will soon start the work on his next movie Maatraan directed by K.V Ananad. The duo has earlier given one of Kollywood’s Biggest Box office hits in it history through Ayan.

Maatraan is being produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram and Harris Jayaraj is scoring music for the fim. Maatraan Shooting is expected to start by 1st week of June. Also KV Anand is searching for the lead lady in the movie and hasn’t finalized any one yet. As per sources Tamanna, Tapasee, Kajal Agarwal and Deepika Padukone are in the race to pair with Surya. But it seems like Kajal Agarwal will pair up with Surya in Maatraan even though it is not officially confirmed yet.

The always-crowded Ranganathan Street at T Nagar became more crowded recently, when Suriya and director A R Murugadoss were there to shoot a song for their forthcoming venture ‘7am Arivu’.

“Since filming a song on Ranganathan Street is no easy task, we rehearshed the sequence many a time at AVM Studios for three days. Thanks to all, we managed to achieve what we conceived, on the busy street,” says Murugadoss.

It is said that the entire shot was completed in just 10 minutes and the unit immediately left the spot, as crowd started to swell to have a glimpse of Suriya. “Special permission was obtained earlier,” sources say.

In the film Suriya plays Anwar Basha, a trapeze artiste who also doubles up as an animal trainer. Shruthi Kamal plays Shalini, his love interest. Suriya was trained for his acrobatic acts by a renowned circus company in Coimbatore and as always the creative actor learnt the art well.

According to sources the audio launch will be a spectacular feat with Suriya performing some dare devilry acrobatics live on stage. The mega music launch will happen at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on March 28.

Suriya will perform acts like trapeze, 10 balls juggle, human pyramid etc. He will do some 10 amazing feats along with trained circus artistes who will be specially flown in for the event.

As soon as the shoot is completed by mid March, AR Murugadoss will go into post production immediately. The innovative story line demands high end special effects and ARM will spend two months to get them perfect.

CHENNAI: Extending his support for the Apollo Hospitals’ Billion Hearts Beating campaign on heart awareness at the Loyola College here, actor Suriya urged the students to follow a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

He reminded them that heart attacks were becoming common among those aged below 30 years.

“Steer yourself clear of any sort of addiction, and live a responsible life for your physical wellness,” he said, amid thunderous applause. Suriya recounted his days in Loyola College, where he did B Com course. “I have then visited the nearby wine shops, but desisted from taking alcohol,” he recalled. AR Murugadoss who is on the news after the release and success of Ghajini is busy with his next venture 7aam Arivu. As the director has handled a new subject in the movie Ghajini, expectations are high on his next movie 7aam Arivu.

The news was that the film was inspired by the Hollywood flick Inception but the director denied the news in the beginning. Speaking about the movie 7aam Arivu, the director said that the story about someone who had lived in India He adds that when the film hits the screens people may wonder if such a person really existed in this country.

Murugadoss says, “it is a film which is a mix of history, fantasy, adventure and realism. Suriya’s character is almost like a superman, but not like the usual one you see on screen.”

This stalwart of Tamil cinema has many passions and other than his family, Tamil literature is at the top of the list. “I just happened to start reading Kambar Ramayanam by chance when I was invited as a guest speaker in 2007 for Madurai Kambar Kazhagam. I prepared a short speech and it sparked from there,” reminisces Palanisamy Rakkia Gounder, better known to the world as actor Sivakumar.

When asked about the proudest and happiest moment in recent times, he says, “It was in 2008, in the month of May. I was invited for a talk in Chennai for about an audience of 50 people on Kambar Ramayanam. It was taped and recorded with very poor audio quality. I received a call the next day from a gentleman in Vancouver. He introduced himself as a Canadian national and it was lunch hour for them when he played my recording (the one recorded the previous day) and said about a thousand odd people had thronged to listen to it. It was a proud moment not for Sivakumar but for the glory of Kambar Ramayanam that had spread far and wide” he says his voice choked with pride and emotion. He goes on to describe with precision the minute details of Kambar Ramayanam when Shoorpanakha meets Rama and introduces herself. His description comes with the eloquence that one can achieve only with ardour and dedication, both to the text and dramatics.

The actor is also proud about his sons and he says, “I only dreamt my sons that should become good humans and I am glad they are! My favorite performance by Suriya was Vaaranam Aayiram. He portrayed both the characters, Krishnan and Surya Krishnan fantastically. Karthi has only begun and I really liked him in Paruthiveeran.”

Would he want to see either of them in a remake of any of his films? “Our genres are entirely different,” he laughs. On a more serious note, he adds, “I don’t think they can ever fit the roles I played nor can I do the same. They do what they do well and I am happy as a father about that.”

Talking about his latest project, he explains, “I am currently compiling the character sketches from Mahabharata. I am analysing the characters of Yudhishtira, Bheeshma, Karna and of course, Krishna. This is not for my generation but for youngsters and their progenies. My aim is to make it palpable for my granddaughter Diya’s generation. That is the vision I have for her and her contemporaries.”

On being asked if we shall see him in a movie soon, the veteran says, “I am more than happy doing what I enjoy the most right now – popularising Tamil literature. I make it a point to connect with my grandchildren. For instance, I drop Diya in school. I am experiencing the joys of being a grandfather.”

A professional painter that he is, do we see him hosting an exhibition soon? “I have a wonderful collection but an exhibition will take a long, long time. All my paintings are very academic and moreover, if I hold an exhibition, people would come to see me rather than my paintings,” he laughs and signs off.

The Telugu version of Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra has received a huge response from the viewers as all the theaters in Andhra Pradesh were packed during the screening of the movie. Suriya will be performing all the circus acts himself without using a double in any of the sequences. The actor is practising hard to get his body language right. He can now walk the trapeze, blow fire out of his mouth and juggle with six balls.

“I stayed with a circus. Do you know there are only about seven or eight companies remaining in the country?
